Our 8th Annual Tom LaMonica Memorial 5K Twilight Trail Run & 1 Mile Fun Walk occurred on September 29, 2018!
This year’s race occurred with a 5:30pm start followed by live music, and craft beer by Sierra Nevada! Participants enjoyed a run along our beautiful trails and then relaxed on the farm under the stars with some delicious food, drinks, and music.
This 5K run is a memorial to our founder and our biggest fundraising event of the year and all proceeds directly support Genesee Valley programs.
About Genesee Valley and the Tom LaMonica 5K run:
Genesee Valley Outdoor Learning Center is a nonprofit organization founded by Tom LaMonica in 1981. Tom was a teacher and coach at Friends School of Baltimore and passionately served as our leader until his passing in September 2010. We continue his vision to provide opportunities for learners of all ages to experience success and growth through shared outdoor experiences.
Genesee Valley is dedicated to an experiential approach to education that allows students and adults to work better as a group in the classroom, on their team, in their family, or at the office. In all of our programs we actively address communication, healthy risk-taking, confidence building, persistence, leadership, and creative problem solving.
