What happens if it rains?
You’ll get wet! We can and do still operate in rain. These conditions can be fun for participants as long as they come prepared. In severe weather, groups will go inside and continue indoor activities. Severe weather includes heavy snow, thunder/lightening and very high winds. Genesee Valley very rarely has to cancel programs due to weather. However because we follow the ACCT, ACA and Maryland State standards and practices we reserve the right to do so for the safety of our staff and participants.
How much does it cost?
Cost depends on a variety of circumstances. For this reason we ask that if you are interested in a program with Genesee Valley that you call our office.
What should I wear?
Since we operate in most weather conditions, you should dress appropriately. We recommend dressing in layers because it is easy to remove and replace layers as necessary. We also recommend staying away from clothing made mostly of cotton. When cotton gets wet, it stays wet and does not insulate well. Before your group arrives, please check the current weather, temperature and outlook for the day. (www.weather.com, zip 21120).
When are you open?
Believe it or not we are open 12-months of the year. Our hours of operation are from 9:00 AM until 4:30 PM, unless you choose to spend the night. We are often out of the office due to our hands on approach. Feel free to leave a message at the Office or email us at: firstname.lastname@example.org.
Do you have indoor facilities?
Yes we do! We have several rustic buildings used mostly for inclement weather.
Is it safe?
We’re glad you asked. Our challenge course is inspected four times a year by our Challenge Course Manager and yearly by Inner Quest, Inc., an ACCT certified vendor. Genesee Valley is an organizational member of the Association for Challenge Course Technology (ACCT) and we meet and comply with their safety standards. Our entire Staff is First Aid and CPR certified.
I’m afraid of heights, should I still come?
Absolutely! A common fear for a lot of people is heights. Our staff is trained to help you try and overcome those fears, but remember, you can choose your level of participation.
What are we going to do?
The activities that you will be involved in are geared toward to goals of the day and change depending upon group performance and dynamics. Your day is outlined by our Directors and given to our facilitators that will, with their professional training, lead your group through activities at an appropriate pace. For a more detailed explanation, refer to the Programs Section of our site for youth/schools or adults/corporate.
