Grouping Request Policy:
Because of the extremely large number of requests we receive to put campers with friends and in order to ensure an enjoyable experience for other children that may be in the same group, the following guidelines are in place to discourage cliques and allow GVOLC to be fair to all families with regards to groupings:

  • Grouping requests are limited to one other child per week and are made at the discretion of Genesee Valley.

  • The request must be made in writing or through registration and the family of the requested child must make the same request on their account.

  • No requests will be honored if not done when registering or in writing at least two weeks before the scheduled camp starting date.

  • Groupings are not guaranteed.

Our Values:

Mission:

Our mission is to provide quality learning experiences that promote growth and nourish the development of individuals of all ages and backgrounds. We work hard to create a safe and nurturing environment for every camper who steps foot on our property. In this ever-changing and sometimes challenging world, we feel that a positive summer camp experience is so important for the development of children both socially and emotionally. We encourage our campers to try new things and build relationships with those around them. Our passionate and compassionate staff work to build confidence in our campers as they explore the many activities we offer. We take pride in our ability to make a positive impression on the lives of our campers and influence their growth as human beings.

Diversity:

As stated in our mission, Genesee Valley provides quality learning experiences that promote growth and nourish development of individuals of all ages and backgrounds. In this vein, the camps at GVOLC are committed to creating and maintaining a community of respect for all individuals regardless of ability, age, cultural background, ethnicity, faith, gender, gender identity, ideology, income, national origin, race or sexual orientation. By registering for camp, you are agreeing to partake in this community that nourishes the self worth and inherent dignity of each human being in order to provide a welcoming space that nourishes the growth of all individuals who participate in our camp programming this summer.

Challenge by Choice:

Our goal is for your child to learn, grow, and experience camp with healthy boundaries. Many of our activities provide campers the opportunity to step outside of their comfort zone and try new things. We understand that each camper has a different definition of a comfort zone. We will never force your child to try an activity but will work with them to find a version of it that is fulfilling, safe, and fun for them.

Testimonials:

“The atmosphere at camp is very friendly and fun without being too hectic. The camp motto of “challenge by choice” is taken seriously by all staff and campers. My daughter chose to embrace some challenges (like zip lining) but not others (like rock climbing). Regardless, she always felt a part of the group. And boy did she LOVE the zip lines.”

“It felt like counselors at Genesee Valley were taking care of the kids, but also joining them in their explorations, their challenges, their games and even their silliness with an endless supply of energy, curiosity, and fun.”

“Genesee Valley is an amazing camp! It is run like a big family and it really shows in every aspect of the camp. There is such a variety of activities offered; all of which our daughter loves. The emphasis on nature and outdoor adventure is exactly what we are looking for in a camp. Not only are the activities fun for her, they are helping her develop self-confidence and push her to try things out of her comfort zone.”
