Summer Camp at GVOLC
Summer Camp runs for 10 weeks from June 9- August 15, Monday - Friday (2 weeks of training prior)
Staff meet at 8:00am for our “morning meeting”. Camp runs from 9:00-4:00pm. Staff are dismissed for the day before 5:00pm. Staff must pass the standard State and National Background Checks.
Summer Camp Director: Responsible for overseeing summer camp programs, hiring, and staff development. This included part time work over the course of the 2024-2025 year to begin the registration process and hiring. Job Description
Camp Instructor: To work at camp, you must be 18 years old. You will guide campers in activities like team building, high ropes, swimming, boating, arts and crafts, fishing, and nature studies. Attend the 2 week counselor training beginning on Memorial Day (including the first Saturday). Training runs from 8am-5pm with a lunch break. You'll learn about camp activities, low and high element facilitation (belaying, sending on ziplines), Genesee Valley policies, managing groups and campers, and more. Lifeguard: Must be 16 years old at the start of camp and have a valid lifeguard certification, starting at $100/day. Lifeguards on duty for swimming and boating at camp. Job Description
Arts & Crafts Teacher: Create, design and implement nature based arts and crafts projects for all summer camp age groups. 4 years old - 15 years old!
Junior Counselor: support counselors with groups during the day by interacting with campers and receiving on high ropes courses. Service Learning hours can be earned if the Junior Counselor’s school allows or payment opportunities are available based on quality and commitment.
