Girls Developmental LaX camp
Girls Developmental Lacrosse camp @ Genesee Valley Lax - June 24-28, 2024
Get outside with us to learn and grow our skills in the game of lacrosse! This week will revolve around age appropriate skill development and having fun with others who love to play! Girls will be encouraged to challenge their level of play and break through to that next level. Coaches will be teaching skills based on abilities, including but not limited to technique, shooting, defensive awareness, draw specialization, offensive structure, ect. Each day, girls will get to swim at Genesee Valley. A sample schedule is below. Please reach out to jackie@geneseevalley.org with any questions!
Age groups: Entering 2nd-3rd grade, 4th-5th grade, 6th-8th grade
Price: $450, extended care (3:30-4:00) $12/ day
What to bring
lacrosse stick, goggles, mouth guard, pinnie(issued Monday)
cleats + comfortable shoes to walk in
bathing suit, towel, change of clothes
sunscreen, hat
water bottle (refillable)
lunch - non refrigerated
snacks
Sample Schedule
8:30-9:00 - drop off (Monday - check in, get pinnie <must wear every day*>)
9:00-9:15 - Big group games, morning huddle
9:15-11:45 - Lacrosse based - skill development in smaller groups
11:45-12:30 - lunch @ Genesee Valley
12:30-2:00 - swimming, team building games, gaga, volleyball
2:00-3:30 - scrimmages, final huddle (Friday awards)
3:30-4:00 - pick up, extended care @ GV
Lax Camp is organized by Genesee Valley’s Program Director, Jackie LaMonica
Jackie LaMonica grew up through Genesee Valley as a camper into a counselor and now Program Director. Jackie grew up playing lacrosse locally and eventually went to Towson University to play a lacrosse and study Environmental Education. While at Towson Jackie also received her Masters in Education. Once graduated, she moved to Jackson Hole, WY to work for Teton Science School & coached their high school lacrosse team, then to Los Angeles, CA as a program director for Harlem Lacrosse. Once Jackie moved back to MD she found herself back with Genesee Valley where it all started. Jackie enjoys rock climbing, learning to take care of bees and coaching lacrosse in her free time.
Paige Abbott - Lacrosse camp Coordinator
Paige is currently a midfielder at Towson University.
Paige is excited to share her knowledge of the game of lacrosse and excited to help local youth develop their skills!
Jordan Peterson - Lacrosse Camp Staff
Jordan has been playing lacrosse for about 13 years. She was a 4 year varsity player at Hereford High School and played club for Skywalkers Lacrosse. Jordan is a freshman at James Madison University playing lacrosse and continuing her academic journey! She played horse polo for 6 years and has played in 2 State Championship lacrosse games.
