Located just thirty minutes north of Baltimore, Genesee Valley is home to 120+ acres of lakes, woods and farmland used for adventure, environmental and experiential education programs. The Seedling Program provides learning opportunities 5 days a week for children ages 3-5. We also offer one to multiple-day leadership and team building programs for a diverse clientele, which include public and independent schools, college organizations, community groups, youth development programs, special needs populations, and adult non-profit organizations and for-profit corporations. Of course during the summer we operate an all outdoor summer camp!

  • Summer Camp runs for 10 weeks from June 10- August 16 (2 weeks of training prior)

  • Staff meet at 8:00am for our “morning meeting”. Camp runs from 9:00-4:00pm. Staff are dismissed for the day before 5:00pm. Staff must pass the standard State and National Background Checks.

    Camp Instructor: To work at camp, you must be 18 years old. You will guide campers in activities like team building, high ropes, swimming, boating, arts and crafts, fishing, and nature studies. Attend counselor training from May 27 - June 7 (excluding June 1). Training runs from 8am-5pm with a lunch break. You'll learn about camp activities, low and high element facilitation (belaying, sending on ziplines), Genesee Valley policies, managing groups and campers, and more. Starting pay is $103 per day.     Lifeguard: Must be 16 years old at the start of camp and have a valid lifeguard certification, starting at $100/day. Lifeguards on duty for swimming and boating at camp. Job Description

    Art & Crafts Teacher: Must be 18 or older. Design, implement, and supervise art and crafts time at summer camp for campers ranging between ages 4-16. Job Description

    Junior Counselor: support counselors with groups during the day by interacting with campers and receiving on high ropes courses. Service Learning hours can be earned if the Junior Counselor’s school allows or payment opportunities are available based on quality and commitment

  • Substitute Teacher: As an assistant at Genesee Valley Outdoor Learning Center, the role is to support the lead teacher in nurturing a positive and inclusive learning environment for our Seedling students and their families. Whether it's helping to set up engaging activities, assisting with the implementation of lessons, or offering guidance and support, the substitute will help make every child feels welcomed and supported throughout their educational journey.   • Facilitators at Genesee Valley Outdoor Learning Center are responsible for facilitating groups of 10 to 12 participants through various initiatives, team based activities, and problem solving on our low ropes course. The goal of the morning is to establish group cohesion and “thinking outside of the box” mindset. Following lunch, facilitators will utilize our high ropes challenge course to challenge participants to step outside their comfort zone. Job description

    This position entails the ability to facilitate high and low ropes course elements (belaying and ziplines) with efficiency in debriefing skills (learned in 2 week training). Fall season run 3rd week of August through mid November, Spring runs early April through late May/early June.
