Team building programs customized for your group

Genesee Valley’s enthusiastic and highly trained educators provide leadership development, team building and outdoor adventure trips for participants for elementary - college-aged students all the way to adults (corporate, educators and non profits). Through hands-on challenges and creative problem-solving scenarios, participants can learn many life skills necessary for both individual and team success. Through group challenges and individuals based activities, participants gain social emotional skills as well to better support their community and self! We offer full day, half day and overnight programs for groups of 6 to 150 people.

Full Day program: 9:00 - 4:00 (can be adjusted based on program needs) consists of initiatives, team based activities, and group problem solving on our low ropes course, led by our trained facilitators in the morning. The goal of the morning is to establish group cohesion and “thinking outside of the box” mindset. Following lunch, we will venture into the woods to participate in our high ropes challenge course. The day concludes with a reflection connecting learned moments at GVOLC into everyday real life.

Half Day Programming: The morning session of a full day, does not include the high ropes course. Typically 9:00-12:00 or 1:00-4:00

Overnight Programming Experience: after a full day of programming, experience an evening under the stars (in tents) after participating in evening programming led by Genesee Valley staff, eating dinner together (not included), roasting s’mores over the campfire, and enjoying the bliss of being together!

Multi-Day Trip: Full programming + Overnight programming = more team building and high ropes course challenges!

Not only did I gain valuable communication skills, but I also discovered the power of collaboration and its ability to turn a group of individuals into a cohesive and successful team
— English Language Institute, University of Delaware
There are other places that provide challenges and adventure, but Genesee Valley has the uniquely talented staff that transforms a physical experience to an emotional and spiritual one.
— Catherine Witt Buccheri
Participants challenged themselves by initiating conversations with peers; talking about their medical experiences with others; figuring out how to adapt to their environment given their physical limitations or abilities
— Abilities Adventures- Mt. Washington Pediatric Hospital
I was able to get a better grasp on who takes on what role in a leadership setting where titles are irrelevant— I feel like I was able to know people and their leadership styles more intimately. I’ll be thinking of this as we continue to work together in the office.
— Loyola University Maryland Office of Student Engagement
One student (among many), who took the leap off the zip line stated: “I didn’t want to do it, but I did it”! He felt so good about himself that he began helping others. We have been coming to Genesee Valley Outdoor Learning Center for almost 20 years and have loved every minute of it.
— Frances Widdick BCPS College Connection
I watched my girls go from quiet/unsure individuals at the beginning of the day to a group of active/supportive participants clapping & cheering their peers on. The transformations I observe during the day are incredible, you guys ROCK!!
— Mercy High School 9th Grade Teacher
We can leverage the experiences from the day at Genesee as we work more deliberately to build culture in our classroom. Students learned the value of stepping out of their comfort zones, meeting new people in their class, and taking on new challenges.
